An RTLS site survey records the facility conditions that affect installation: mounting access, obstructions, pathways, power and network availability. It gives the platform designer a traceable site record; radio design and accuracy validation remain separate deliverables.

SRS Networks is a nationwide infrastructure deployment company headquartered in South San Francisco, California, serving enterprises across the 48 contiguous states, Alaska, and Hawaii since 1996. We scope mounting, cabling, network readiness and field documentation against the selected RTLS design. The platform owner specifies the radio layout, commissioning and application acceptance.

This resource defines physical installation planning. Platform engineering, software integration and positioning guarantees require a separately assigned, qualified owner.

Measure against a controlled drawing

Use a floor plan with its revision, scale and coordinate reference identified. Mark inaccessible areas and uncertain dimensions. The designer must know which observations were measured onsite and which came from supplied drawings.

Walk the actual operating conditions

Inspect the work area during representative operations when permitted. Capture rack arrangements, moving loads, doors and machinery that could affect the approved layout. Record site facts for the platform engineer instead of prescribing a universal anchor spacing.

Record the installation dependencies

Identify lift access, mounting surfaces and routes to the planned devices. Check where the approved design expects power or wired backhaul. Record each unresolved facility dependency with its owner so the estimate does not silently assume it is ready.

Return a survey package the designer can use

Deliver the marked plan, observation register and open questions together. Have the platform owner approve any layout revision before releasing field work. A survey can be accepted with explicit unknowns; those unknowns must remain visible in the installation scope.

Complete the workbook with your platform designer. Record device quantities, approved mounting points, access constraints and infrastructure dependencies. We use those inputs to define field labor and handoff responsibilities.

Questions to settle before the crew arrives

Is this an RF design survey?

The base scope is physical site readiness and recorded measurements. Platform-specific RF engineering must be separately assigned to a qualified designer.

Can a remote floor-plan review replace a site visit?

It can support initial planning, but it does not verify access or existing conditions. Keep remote assumptions visible until someone checks them onsite.

Who chooses the anchor positions?

The platform designer approves positions and design changes. The field survey supplies measurements and constraints for that decision.

What should I provide before the survey?

Send floor plans, tracking zones, proposed hardware, access rules and a platform engineering contact. Identify any photography restrictions before the visit.

What does SRS need to scope the physical work?

Send the site list, states, drawings, device schedule and approved installation instructions. Include access windows and the contact who owns platform commissioning so responsibilities can be agreed before dispatch.

Which costs affect the field estimate?

Mounting access, work windows, pathways, travel, device quantities and readiness gaps affect field labor. Platform licenses, calibration and application integration should be quoted separately by their assigned owners.

How should a pilot become a multi-site deployment?

Accept the pilot against the agreed physical and platform tests before repeating it. Carry forward the approved checklist, record site-specific differences and confirm readiness before each later visit.

What does the scope workbook include?

It records site readiness, device locations, responsibility owners, acceptance checks and cost categories. Complete it with the platform designer and facility owner, then use it to request comparable field estimates.
