Protect the thermal envelope
Every penetration has an energy, vapor, sanitation, and warranty consequence. Coordinate the sleeve and seal detail with the panel manufacturer before drilling.
Keep warm electronics warm
Power supplies, media converters, and switches often have narrower temperature ranges than radios. Move them outside the cold zone or use a controlled enclosure sized for heat and condensation.
Validate the moving workflow
Test scanners, vehicle terminals, roaming, and handoffs along actual pick paths and dock transitions. A static signal survey does not prove application performance.
When this is not the right approach
For a small walk-in cooler with one scanner and reliable coverage from outside, a dedicated freezer network may be unnecessary. Validate the workflow before adding hardened equipment.
