Telecommunications infrastructure is the permanent physical plant a building needs before any service can be turned up: the entrance facility and minimum point of entry, the demarcation extension from the MPOE to each floor, riser and horizontal pathways, telecom and equipment rooms, the copper and fiber backbone between them, and the grounding and bonding system that ties all of it to building steel. It is the layer beneath the network — closer to sleeves, cores, firestop, and busbars than to routers.

The Demarc Stops in the Wrong Room
The carrier's obligation ends at the MPOE. Everything from that room to your telecom closets is the building's problem, and on most projects nobody scoped it. The circuit shows live on the carrier's portal and the suite still has nothing.
Pathways Nobody Drew
Riser sleeves and floor cores never made it onto the coordination set. The drywall is up and the slab is poured, so getting backbone to the second floor now means core drilling over occupied space at night rates.
No Ground Reference in the Building
No TMGB at the entrance facility, no bonding backbone up the riser, telecom rooms bonded to whatever conduit was closest. Transients ride the shield into the switch stack, and the inspector flags it at closeout.
Carrier Lead Times Nobody Budgeted
A fiber entrance build routinely runs 90 to 180 days from signed LOA to service date. Ordered 30 days out, it becomes the one line item holding up the certificate of occupancy on an otherwise finished building.

Entrance Facility & MPOE
We build the service entrance carriers actually terminate into — conduit from the vault or property line, entrance cabinet and backboard, protection, and an MPOE laid out so the next carrier doesn't need a new room.
Pathways, Risers & Firestopping
Sleeves, slots, cores, cable tray, and J-hook pathway installed on the GC's schedule — sized to 40 percent fill so the building keeps headroom, and firestopped with UL-classified systems at every penetration.
Telecom Rooms & Backbone Cable
Telecom rooms sized and vertically stacked per ANSI/TIA-569-E, fire-retardant plywood backboards, racks and ladder rack set — then the copper and fiber backbone pulled, terminated, and certified between them.
Bonding, Grounding & Carrier Handoff
A TMGB at the entrance facility, a bonding backbone up the risers, a busbar in every telecom room — all to ANSI/TIA-607-D. Then we run the carrier handoff: LOA, CFA, install window, and the physical meet.

A Telecom Sub That Reads the Coordination Set.
Infrastructure work lives or dies on sequencing. Sleeves have to be set before the deck pours, the TMGB has to land before the electrical inspection, and the carrier order has to be filed months before anyone thinks about it. We run that calendar so the GC doesn't have to.
How a building telecom infrastructure job actually runs
It usually starts with a set of drawings where telecom is one note on the electrical sheet. So the first thing we do is read the set and find what is missing: where the service entrance is coming from and whether there are two paths, whether the telecom rooms are stacked floor to floor or scattered, whether any drop in the building would exceed the 90-meter horizontal limit, and whether the sleeves and cores exist anywhere except in someone's head. That review comes back as a markup and a written scope, not a verbal.
Then we get in the sequence. Riser sleeves and floor cores get set before the deck pours, because after that it is a core drill over an occupied floor. Conduit gets sized to 40 percent fill so the building has room for the next tenant, not just this one. Telecom rooms get their fire-retardant plywood, racks, and ladder rack while the room is still empty. The bonding system goes in with the electrical rough-in: a TMGB at the entrance facility, a bonding backbone up the riser, and a busbar in every telecom room, sized and labeled to ANSI/TIA-607-D so the inspector signs it the first time. In parallel, the carrier order is already moving — LOA filed, CFA assigned, install window booked against a fiber entrance that can take 90 to 180 days.
Once the pathway is real, the backbone goes in. Copper and fiber between the entrance facility and every telecom room, terminated, labeled to ANSI/TIA-606-C, and certified: Fluke DSX-8000 on copper, OTDR and insertion loss on fiber. Every penetration gets firestopped with a UL-classified system whose F-rating matches the assembly it passes through, and that gets photographed, because the AHJ will ask. Then we extend the demarc from the MPOE out to each room so a live circuit at the entrance actually reaches the floor that ordered it.
At turnover you get the package the building operates from: riser diagrams, pathway and sleeve as-builts, telecom room elevations, port-to-panel schedules, firestop locations, circuit IDs mapped to the demarc, and a certification report for every backbone link. Multi-site or multi-building portfolios run on one standard across every property and track live in the Project Command Center, so the facilities lead in Dallas sees the same status the GC in Boston does.
