Structured Cabling Installation
in 7 documented steps.

Most cabling contractors describe their process as "we install it." Here is what an SRS install actually looks like from site walk to closeout — the same playbook we have run across 5,000+ sites since 1996.

SRS Networks is a nationwide structured cabling contractor headquartered in Salinas, California, executing the same documented 7-step installation process across all 48 contiguous states since 1996. Every SRS project follows this process, whether it's a 50-drop satellite office or a 5,000-drop multi-site healthcare rollout.

Quick facts

  • Typical 200-drop install: 5-10 business days
  • Typical 1,000-drop multi-floor install: 4-8 weeks
  • Typical 50-site multi-site rollout: 90-180 days
  • Standard mobilization: 5-10 business days from signed SOW
  • Emergency mobilization in tier-1 metros: 48-72 hours
  • Standard certification: Fluke DSX-8000 permanent-link
  • Labor model: in-house W-2 leads + vetted subcontractor bench
  • Closeout deliverables: PDF test report, as-built map, label schedule

The 7-step process

Each step ends in a deliverable. Each deliverable goes in your portal.

1

Site walk & scope confirmation

Days 1-3

Our PM and lead tech physically walk every floor — verifying drop counts, pathway routes, MDF/IDF placement, ceiling type, and access constraints. Catches scope surprises before they become change orders.

2

Design & material take-off

Days 3-7

Cable schedule, pathway design, full bill of materials, manufacturer submittal package. We confirm cable category, jack manufacturer, and labeling scheme with you in writing before ordering.

3

Permits & pre-mobilization

Days 5-12

Low-voltage permits, COIs, badging, after-hours approvals, escort scheduling for secure facilities. We pull what's needed and document it for the closeout package.

4

Pathway & rough-in

Days 8-15

J-hooks, conduit, innerduct, fire-stopping at penetrations, MDF/IDF rack and ladder-rack install. This is the dust-and-drilling phase that has to finish before cable touches the building.

5

Cable pull & termination

Days 12-25

Pull cable from MDF/IDF to every drop, terminate at jacks and patch panels, label cable and faceplates per the labeling schedule. Photo documentation as we go.

6

Fluke certification testing

Days 22-30

Permanent-link or channel certification on every drop with a Fluke DSX-8000. Failed drops get pulled and re-terminated until they pass. Every test result lands in the closeout PDF.

7

Walk-down & closeout

Days 28-35

Walk every drop with your IT or facilities lead. Hand off the closeout package: Fluke test reports, as-built cable map, labeling schedule, manufacturer warranty registration. 30/60/90-day call-back windows.

How long does a structured cabling installation take?

Short answer: a 200-drop single-floor office takes 5-10 business days. A 1,000-drop multi-floor build takes 4-8 weeks. Multi-site rollouts of 25+ buildings run 90-180 days end-to-end. Mobilization is 5-10 business days from signed SOW (48-72 hours in tier-1 metros for emergency dispatch).
